In a nutshell

On foot to discover the Gothic soul of the city of Palma. And to enjoy typical Spanish tapas with a glass of sangría. From the Escollera to the Lonja, from the Cathedral of Santa Maria to the Almudaina Royal Palace, there's a lot more to the capital of the Balearics than just beaches and nightlife.

Main stops
  • Escollera, seafront
  • Llotja: external visit
  • Almudaina Royal Palace, Cathedral of Santa Maria, also know as La Seu
  • Tapas and sangría tasting at La Quinta Puñeta bar

The programme
  • You'll start from the Escollera, on the city's seafront, and then walk through the streets that lead to the Lonja, the ancient gothic-style headquarters of the merchants' guild which today hosts temporary exhibitions and other cultural events.
  • Continue to the Almudaina Royal Palace. Built on the ancient Muslim alcázar, it is currently the residence of the King of Spain when he is on the island.
  • Beside it is the Cathedral of Santa Maria, known as La Seu. Stop to admire the Ojo del Gótico, a huge rose window of about 100 square meters: one of the biggest ever made in Europe.
  • Then it's through the alleys of the old town to the Quinta Puñera bar. Are you ready for the ultimate Spanish tasting session? You'll taste tapas including “pintxo de salmó” accompanied by a glass of sangría, the traditional drink made with sweetened red wine and fresh seasonal fruit.
