The programme
  • The old town in this, the youngest island in the Mediterranean, dates back 2,500 years: discover Dalt Vila, Ibiza's fortified citadel and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Touring it on foot you'll discover the traces of the many civilizations that inhabited the island: Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Muslims and finally Catalans. It was they who changed the original Phoenician name, Ibosim, to Evissa, which then became Ibiza.
  • In front of the cathedral of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, remember that it stands on the site of a miraculous snowfall. While the church of Santo Domingo will impress you with its red roof tiles.
  • If you're a postcard enthusiast, sit down to write them by the statue of Isidor Macabich, the local poet. Or head for Plaça de Vila for some culinary inspiration: it's full of shops and restaurants.
  • Last stop is the Portal de Ses Taules: a photo of the drawbridge is a good reminder of the historical side of Ibiza.
