In a nutshell We set off on a cruise around the bay of Reykjavík to discover its history and landscape headed to one uninhabited islet home to puffins, where we can observe them living undisturbed together with many other species of wild birds.

Main stops
  • Cruise in the bay of Reykjavík
  • Island of Lundey
  • Puffin sighting

The programme
  • Our excursion starts directly at the port, where we board a boat and set off on a cruise around the bay of Reykjavík, the most ancient permanent settlement on the island and the northernmost capital in the world.
  • Together with an expert guide, we discover the history of Reykjavík and the surrounding region, admire the main sights and learn more about the geological characteristics of the bay as we get acquainted with the local fauna.
  • We reach the island of Lundey, located 15 minutes from the port of Reykjavík. This is a uninhabited islets where around 15,000 puffins make their nests during the summer months. Puffins are small black and white birds with a funny colourful parrot-like beak of a triangular shape.
  • Our boat turns the motor off as we approach the islands so we can observe the birds without scaring them. We can thus see them in their natural habitat as they lead their everyday lives.
  • On the gentle outlines along the low coast, we can admire a variety of other colourful birds that make of this unspoilt places a true temple for wild animals, including seagulls, fulmars, Arctic terns and black urias.
