Description A truly unique experience where we will discover the unspoilt nature of the Panama Canal and Gatún Lake through dense tropical vegetation, with a boat ride to Monkey Island, where we will have direct contact with an endless array of animals and plants in an absolutely exceptional ecosystem.

What we will see
  • Gamboa Rainforest Resort: Boat ride over Gatún Lake
  • Islands covered by dense jungle with a huge variety of flora and fauna
  • Monkey Island: : various species of monkeys, sloths, toucans, caymans, crocodiles, turtles and butterflies, and unspoilt nature

What we will do
  • We will leave the port by coach and head to Gamboa Rainforest Resort where motor boats will be waiting to take us to explore Gatún Lake and Monkey Island.
  • After around a 30-minute high-speed boat ride in the heart of the Panama Canal, our boat will slow down and enter the labyrinth of islands covered by dense jungle dotted around Gatún Lake. This large artificial lake that provides water to operate the canal locks was created between 1907 and 1913 along with a dam of the same name, and it contains more than 100 islands with a huge variety of flora and fauna.
  • We will stop at one of these islands known as Monkey Island because it is home to various species of the primate, including capuchin and howler monkeys. But that’s not all: there are also many species of toucans and other tropical birds, not to mention sloths, caymans, crocodiles, turtles and a plethora of butterflies.
  • Our expert nature guide will point out the characteristics of the various animals and plants there, inviting us to listen to the sounds of the unspoilt nature surrounding us.
  • After the visit to Monkey Island, we will get back on our boats to return to the resort and then back on our coach to the ship.
