What we will see
  • Coach and ferry ride to Ålfoten
  • Hjortegarden, the “Farm of the red deer”
  • Guided tour of the centre with tasting session
  • Close encounter with the deer

What we will do
  • We set off from the port of Nordfjordeid on a coach. The first stop on our tour to encounter the fascinating red deer is Stårheim where we board a ferry to Isane.
  • We continue by coach to Ålfoten. Our destination, Hjortegarden, the “Farm of the red deer”, is located in the heart of an important nature reserve.
  • Sonja and Karl Vidar, the two passionate owners, welcome us to an enchanting farm that pays homage to the love of nature and animals.
  • An interesting guided tour illustrates the history of the farm and much more. Food is an essential part of our roots: it would be truly unthinkable to continue without savouring a delicious slice of cake prepared according to grandma’s recipe.
  • From the woods surrounding the farm, the bay, the rivers, the forest and the canyons to the vast Ålfotbreen glacier, the red deer is the king of the region. We take advantage of this occasion to get to know them and... feed them by hand ourselves!
  • Tired but happy, we get ready to return to the ship following the same route back.

What you need to know
