What we will do
- Let us take the chance to discover the town of Altos
de Chavón at leisure. Take in the evening atmosphere of a 17th-century village
with Plaza Chavón and the Church of San Stanislaus standing out among the
period buildings and districts.
- Altos
de Chavón, the so-called “Artists Village”, i.e. a unique reconstruction of an
ancient 17th-century Mediterranean town recreated by local artists between 1978
and 1982 based on an idea by Charles Bludhorn and designed by Roberto Coppa.
- Once
there, we immediately notice the peculiar architecture of this place perched
above Rio Chavón, the river from which it takes its name. The top of the
panoramic terrace offers a breathtaking view of the Chavón river, which was the
filming location of Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece “Apocalypse Now”.
- Take
the chance to try some exquisite Dominican food or a typical rum punch!
