What we will do • Let us discover why the town of Lerici has always fascinated literary figures so much that its bay is known as the ‘Gulf of Poets’. • A guided tour of the picturesque town centre enables us to admire the monuments that have inspired artists such as Lord Byron, Percy B. Shelley and his wife Mary Godwin Wollstonecraft, known as Mary Shelley and author of “Frankenstein”. • We reach the Castle of Lerici, an ancient fortress begun in the 12th century perched on a hill plunging into the sea and offering breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. • We continue our tour with a walk to San Terenzio, an enchanting part of Lerici home to what was once known as Villa Magni but which is now famous as Villa Shelley, after hosting the Shelleys. The white building definitely has a Romantic atmosphere with its portico overlooking the beach.
