Upon the discovery of the heart of the historic centre of Genoa, amongst its sumptuous buildings and flavours.

What we will see
  • Lanterna, Castelletto
  • Via Garibaldi, Palazzo Lomellino, Palazzo Imperiale (exclusive entry for Costa Cruises), House of Columbus, Porta Soprana
  • Ducal Palace, Ancient Port, Via San Lorenzo, Porticoes of Sotto Ripa

What we will do
  • We reach Genoa with a panoramic motorway ride along the coast of the Riviera di Ponente, between sea views and Mediterranean scrub.
Along the harbor we admire the Lantern, which has always been a reference point for sailors, and continue by bus to discover the most interesting places in the city until we reach Castelletto, one of the oldest and most elegant districts of Genoa which stands on the heights overlooking the Old Town.
  • From here you can enjoy a splendid view of the old city from the panoramic terrace of Spianata Castelletto, and then continue by bus to the historic center, the beating heart of Genoa. Walk along the street that Rubens called the 'most beautiful street in Europe': Via Garibaldi, better known as Strada Nuova. This pedestrian artery includes some of the most sumptuous palaces in Genoa, built in the sixteenth century as residences of the most important noble families and restored to their original splendor on the occasion of 'Genoa 2004'.
  • We visit the Secret Garden of Palazzo Lomellino, included on July 13, 2006 in the list of buildings registered in the Rolli of Genoa, which on that date became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The garden, since its origins developed 'on the coast' on different levels climbed on the side of the hill of Castelletto, underwent during the eighteenth century, together with the Palace, a substantial modification to the courtyard and the first terrace: we will admire the scenographic courtyard , the satyrs on the balustrade overlooking the first terrace, like the five statues that dominate the garden from the top of the wall on the second level. Here the Bacchic theme is predominant: two female and three male figures, probably including Dionysus himself, play bagpipes, flutes and musical instruments.
  • At this point we dedicate ourselves to the visit of Palazzo Imperiale (exclusive entrance for Costa Cruises) followed by a delicious tasting
  • Before returning on board by bus, we retrace the ancient and characteristic arcades of Sotto Ripa.
